About
Reasoning
When I started ircfreak.net it was never meant for it to be centered around politics, politics wasn’t even on the radar when I started working on the site. The site was meant to be a mix of old Internet technology (IRC) and new (Social Media), but my side interest in politics slowly crept into the blog. It was only a post or two every week or so nothing major, then it started becoming more and more until it was almost all political.
I wanted to get the site back to what it was suppose to be about, so I started freakpolitics.com, the place for me to let out my feelings on the political issues.
About Me
I am a college student originally from Northern Connecticut who moved down to Oklahoma to attend college at the University of Tulsa. Being a liberal in a conservative state takes some getting use to, but its an incredible learning experience, both in learning to put aside politics and to see the other side of the coin, something you don’t see all that much in a state like Connecticut.
Oklahoma, for all its good, also highlights many of the problems still facing the nation to this day, bigoty, homophobia, xenophobia still run rampant across the state. You can still hear “Nigger” openly said, the black sections are called “Jigtown” and chigger isn’t only slang for a mite, but also for black children.
Purpose
The general purpose is to highlight the issues facing America and offer some commentary on them from a left leaning perspective. It is meant as a place for open discussion about the topics, and increase interest in government and the role you as a citizen play in shaping it for future generations.
Services
You’ll also notice links on the right sidebar, these are a list of blogs, news sites, and community sites that provide a constant flow of politics. The blogs are all liberal in nature, the news sources are major newspapers and the collective sites are a mix of all things.
The RSS feeds are of my other site and nuke1.net, a partner site. Clicking the RSS icon will allow you to subscribe to all the posts published here without needing to check back regularly.
Comments on the site are provided by Disqus.
From time to time guest bloggers will offer opinions, many of which will be moderates or even conservatives.
